Why do I get massages?
I do not like massages. Seems like a strange thing to read on the blog of a massage company, right?
Hi, my name is Heather, and I am a receptionist at Nature’s Whisper Massage. Wondering why I work at a massage place, but dislike massages? There are a few reasons…
#1: I don’t like to be touched. Hugs, handshakes, whatever…I don’t like it. It gives me anxiety for some reason. I like to think of myself as a nice person, but I am even nicer when I have my space.
#2: I don’t need one. The aches and pains that I occasionally feel are normal, and they will work themselves out. I am a mother of 3 young kids, stress and tension will never be 100% gone. This is just the way my body is.
#3: I don’t have time. Again, kids=less time for me. Then I would have to find a babysitter, and it is just easier to stay home.
#4: The road to healing muscles can be painful. I know that massages can cause soreness, I don’t have time for that.
That was me 8 months ago and now, this is me…
I ended up scheduling a massage during my last pregnancy to try to help with the discomforts I was having. And let me tell you, I am a believer! While getting weekly massages for the last half of my pregnancy, I felt better, the discomfort that extra weight brought to my back and hips was relieved. Plus, my post-partum recovery was SO quick! I was biking again 3 weeks after delivery!
My baby is now 8 months old. I have been receiving massages monthly now, to help correct problems caused by scoliosis and stress. I am still singing the praises of massage! Don’t have time for massages? Make time! Your body doesn’t have to feel tired, sore, and tight. I truly think that by giving a little time to massage, gives a lot of rewards to YOU and those who love you! So, why do I get massages? Simply because they work!
